Wisconsin teen Jayme Closs reunites with aunt after rescue

Wisconsin teen Jayme Closs reunites with aunt after rescue

The neighbour had been walking her dog in the area, a subdivision known as Eau Claire Acres, when a teenage girl came up to her in the cold and asked for help.

The door of Jayme's family home near Barron 100km away had been blasted down with a shotgun in October, her parents gunned down, and Jayme abducted.

Jayme provided a description of Patterson's vehicle.

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said investigators are trying to figure out what happened to Jayme during her captivity. "It's wonderful, the will of that 13-year-old girl to survive and escape".

Jayme told the couple she had been held captive in a cabin and didn't know where she was or anything about Gordon.

Officials said Patterson had planned his actions and prepared for kidnapping the teen.

The few neighbors who know Patterson's family say he grew up in a cabin in a remote subdivision that's a mix of seasonal and year-round homes about 10 miles outside Gordon proper.

Elizabeth Smart - who was abducted aged 14 in 2002 in Utah and held captive for nine months - said in an Instagram post: "No matter what may unfold in her story let's all try to remember that this young woman has SURVIVED".

The disappearance of Jayme Closs has captivated the country.

About three years ago, Patterson worked at the Jennie-O Turkey Store plant in Barron - where Jayme's parents were employed - and then quit, saying he was moving, company President Steve Lykken said.

Investigators also don't know the conditions under which she was kept in the cabin in the remote Wisconsin community of Gordon or how she escaped.

The sheriff said he didn't know whether Jayme had been physically abused. "She's the one that helped us break the case".

He did not give further details.

The grandfather of a northwest USA girl held captive for months says the family has no connection to the man suspected of kidnapping her and killing her parents.

'We did get a tip on a sibling that has some criminal record. "It was like I was seeing a ghost".

Jayme reportedly stayed at the home for about 20 minutes, declining food and water.

"She said that this person's name was Jake Patterson, 'he killed my parents and took me,"' said another neighbor, Kristin Kasinskas. But the sheriff said it did not appear Patterson interacted with the couple during his brief time there.

Nutter said, "This is Jayme Closs!" We're all just so grateful and happy. "We thought it was going to be a different ending".

It shows her with Jennifer Smith, one of Closs' aunts, and the girl's dog Molly. I just can't wait'.

Authorities say that the Closs family did now know Jake Patterson. Their bodies were found October 15 after a mysterious 911 call led deputies to their home in Barron, Wisconsin.

There he met up with a 15-year-old girl to have sex with her. Jayme was nowhere to be found.

An Amber Alert for her was issued that afternoon. The FBI offered a cash reward for information on her whereabouts, and authorities urged hunters in the area to be on the lookout for clues.

Closs was missing for almost three months when she approached a stranger in the small, isolated town of Gordon and pleaded for help.

"Jayme is an example of why we never lose hope and never stop searching", the organisation said on Facebook.
