2 More Child Deaths Linked to Flu — CDC

A total of 20 people have now died from the flu in IN during the 2018-2019 season, according to the state's department of health.

But some workplaces have been reporting an unseasonal spate of staff calling in sick with flu-like illnesses, after a relatively mild season last winter. 969 involve those age 19 and under... and 847 of those affect kids younger than 10.

"We're seeing about half of our cases that are in that ten and under category, so it's kind of concerning that only 40 percent of our kids, six months to four years, according to our system, are now vaccinated".

It said Global Positioning System were also reporting an increase in flu-like illnesses at their surgeries and PathWest was seeing more confirmed flu cases.

Minnesota also has "widespread" status, with 356 hospitalizations and 13 deaths so far.

The 2017-2018 flu season had 185 reported child deaths nationwide and about 80 percent of those kids didn't receive a flu shot.
