Kristaps Porzingis concerned about losing direction of New York Knicks

The Knicks with their $73 million in cap space, are betting on landing a top free agent or two like the Kyrie Irving or the Kevin Durant who will be available, among other big names, this summer.

Porzingis was traded to the Mavericks in a surprise deal just hours after having showdown talks with the Knicks.

NY began to speak to teams about different trade scenarios involving Porzingis in the days leading up to Thursday.

Kristaps Porzingis #6 of the New York Knicks looks on during the game against the Boston Celtics on January 31, 2018 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.

It has been three days since the trade between the New York Knicks and the Dallas Mavericks which sent Kristaps Porzingis to Dallas. Mills said the decision for Porzingis to return will be up to both the player and the team. "So we chose to act upon one".

Now, as I mentioned in my earlier article, this trade was most definitely in an effort to create cap space for 2019 free agency, and it has been reported that the Knicks plan on buying out newly acquired Deandre Jordan in an effort to do exactly that.

But with the worst record in the National Basketball Association so far, how will this impact the Knicks for this year?

Some close to Durant see NY as a possible landing spot for the back-to-back NBA Finals MVP if he chooses to leave the Golden State Warriors, according to league sources.

NY basically traded their best player for cap space.

The Knicks (10-40) have struggled without Porzingis, who was averaging a career-best 22.7 points per game before he injured his left knee during a breakout All-Star season in 2017-18.
