New photos from 'Game of Thrones' season 8 have just been released

Game of Thrones finally returns for its finale season in just two months, and HBO has just released the first official photos of all the major players in action.

Bloys previously stated that the prequel will not premiere until at least one year after Game of Thrones concludes, which puts the series at a potential 2020 or 2021 start date. The show's title is rumored to be The Long Night, but that's not confirmed. Let us what you think in the comments! S.J. Clarkson is directing the pilot of the prequel from Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kick-Ass writer Jane Goldman.

4, HBO programming president Casey Bloys told Entertainment Weekly that the as-yet-untitled project will begin production in early summer, following rumors that production would begin last fall and this February.

Naomi Watts leads the Game of Thrones prequel cast, which includes Naomi Ackie (Lady Macbeth), Denise Gough (Broadway's Angels in America), Jamie Campbell Bower (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald), Georgie Henley (The Chronicles of Narnia), Sheila Atim (Harlots), Ivanno Jeremiah (Humans), Alex Sharp (How to Talk to Girls at Parties), and Toby Regbo (Reign). There's no Iron Throne.

Game Of Thrones season eight begins on 21 April on HBO and Sky Atlantic. "Westeros is a very different place", George R.R. Martin recently described.

With Game of Thrones coming to a close after its upcoming eighth season, HBO is looking to capitalize on its success and expand upon the series developed by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

The final season of Game of Thrones likely won't be our last trip to Westeros, however, as HBO has greenlit a pilot set 1,000 years before the events of the wildly popular sword and sorcery epic.
