Doctors Hospital telling you how to prevent heart disease

These diseases are heavily influenced by women's lifestyle choices.

Almost half of all USA adults have some type of cardiovascular disease, a percentage that reflects recently updated guidelines for treating high blood pressure, according to a new report. "If there are symptoms that are present and you have risk factors, particularly, you should be concerned about it". Wear Red Day is a national awareness movement initiated by the American Heart Association to highlight the number one cause of death among women: heart disease, stroke and all other cardiovascular diseases. This year's report said 121.5 million adults in the US have cardiovascular disease. Officials say there are simple steps you can take to be healthier.


Women Veterans wore red on February 1 to support fellow women and raise awareness about cardiovascular disease.

Employers can help promote cardiovascular health by creating work sites that support blood pressure control, cholesterol management, tobacco control, good nutrition and encourage physical activity, according to the Center for Disease Control Foundation. For instance, maintaining a healthy weight, exercising regularly and eating a balanced diet with fruits and vegetables.

Then on Valentine's Day, February 14th, they will be hosting an event at Doctors Hospital from 8 a.m.to 11 a.m. where they will be providing health screenings for the community.
