Baldur's Gate Games, Neverwinter, Planescape: Torment Coming to Console in 2019

Beamdog is probably best known for bringing enhanced versions of these classic RPGs to PC.

Skybound Games and Canadian developer Beamdog have announced plans to bring a range of classic RPGs to consoles later this year, including seminal greats like Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II, Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment, and Neverwinter Nights. All of them, dubbed "Enhanced Editions", will be available at retail or through the PlayStation Store, according to the press release. In the meantime, a selection of Beamdog's games will be on display at the Skybound Games booth at PAX East in Boston from March 28 through March 31. Skybound Games was selected as the team to finish The Walking Dead after Telltale Games shuttered their doors.

Skybound Games has announced a partnership with Beamdog to bring classic BioWare computer role-playing games (CRPGs) to consoles, including the well-remembered Baldur's Gate franchise.

More details will be revealed in the coming months, including more information about the physical release. All of the games are set in the Forgotten Realms of the Dungeons and Dragons universe, and the Enhanced Editions will include all of the expansion packs. This will mark the first time that the likes of Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights have been ported to console platforms. Most were unavailable due to Interplay's decline, advancements in PC hardware, as well as the lack of digital distribution for them until GOG secured them in 2008.
