Davis destroys Ruiz to retain WBA super featherweight title

On New Years Eve, Mayweather returned to the ring by facing Nasukawa in a three-round exhibition but it didn't last long.

Gervonta Davis defended his WBA Super Featherweight World Championship with a thrilling first-round TKO of former world champion Hugo Ruiz before a sellout crowd of 8,048 at Dignity Health Sports Park Saturday non SHOWTIME.

'But he has an exhibition bout with Tenshin (Nasukawa) in Japan in April.

Davis improved to a mark of 21-0 with 20 wins by knockout as he defeated Ruiz at just 2:59 of the opening round.

Mayweather came out of a two-year retirement to face UFC star Conor McGregor in a boxing match in August 2017 and knocked him out in the 10th round in the second-highest grossing fight in history. He is fighting Tenshin in an exhibition match in Japan, in RIZIN.

"I'm proud of Tank, and he's gonna stay active", Mayweather said.

"He was really hurt, that nose was broken earlier and then he got hit on it again". "So first it's Tenshin in April and then in May it's the real fight".

So, another trip to Tokyo, Japan, for Team Mayweather.

Gervonta Davis who is just 24-years-old and known as "Tank", fights out of the Upton Boxing Center in West Baltimore.

Nasukawa got absolutely destroyed by the former "P4P" king.

Mayweather, now 41, took Nasukawa apart inside a round when the pair met in December and having earned millions, it appears he is taking his unbeaten protege Davis for some of the action.

Get ready for Davis vs. Nasukawa in an exhibition, folks.
