Diana Ross Wishes Herself a Happy 75th Birthday

Diana Ross Wishes Herself a Happy 75th Birthday

Predictably, it was wonderful! But the limelight was nearly stolen from right under her nose, by her own grandson - 9-year-old Raif, the son of her eldest daughter, Rhonda Ross Kendrick, 47.

The singer quite literally got everyone going as she told the crowd "don't be lazy", encouraging everyone to get up on their feet. Other family members, including Ross' daughter Tracee Ellis Ross and son Evan Ross, were also in attendance and cheered him and the singer on.

"I envisioned a dream and that's what I created over those two days in Central Park", she said. "I'm nearly 4-foot-9!" She then took her place on a circular stage among the crowd and delivered a little inspirational speech, telling the audience in the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, "Together we have no limits".

After being introduced by one of her grandchildren and Grammys host Alicia Keys, the music legend sang "The Best Years of My Life", from her 2001 Motown Anthology album. She recently kicked off the celebrations with a special birthday performance at the Grammy Awards.

The star, as so many people know, came of age in Detroit, Michigan, began singing with friends as a teen, and eventually led the 1960s trio the Supremes, who had such hits as "Come See About Me" and "You Can't Hurry Love". Also there was Motown creator Berry Gordy, 89, the father of Diana's oldest child, Rhonda.
