Chelsea outline conditions under which Maurizio Sarri can still keep his job

Chelsea are set to stick with manager Maurizio Sarri despite alarmingly inconsistent results and the thrashing by Manchester City.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Chelsea's players are reluctant to pin the blame exclusively on Sarri and recognise that they have not shown enough character during the hard period.

Maurizio Sarri arrived at Chelsea after an underachieving yet fruitful stint with Napoli, who had gone the closest to breaking Juventus' dominance of Italian league football. But, as the months have passed by, the honeymoon period seems to have well and truly ended.

Following their 6-0 loss to Manchester City, Sarri stated that he "never hears" from the Chelsea owner.

"Starting with the Tottenham game [a 3-1 defeat at Wembley] and there's a recurring theme".

They also remain in the FA Cup, facing Manchester United in the fifth round next Monday and are in the knockout stages of the Europa League, and sources at the club have indicated that they will be sticking with him.

"It doesn't happen to Chelsea much, so when it does, it's a shock".

"The Arsenal team that has got battered away from home in the last seven or eight years because they have been too weak".

"With all top teams, the important thing is that you come back strong - no matter what type of defeat".

"More often than not this season Liverpool have done that". They scored six stunning goals including four inside the opening 25 minutes, and were absolutely ruthless at the Etihad. Otherwise, the season can go spiralling out of control at Chelsea, amid a poor run of form.
