Naomi Osaka announces split with coach Sascha Bajin

Bajin, who has previously worked as a hitting partner for Serena Williams, Caroline Wozniacki, Sloane Stephens and Victoria Azarenka, was named WTA coach of the year in 2018.

World No.1 Naomi Osaka has ended her successful partnership with coach Sascha Bajin.

"I will no longer be working together with Sascha", tweeted the US -based Japanese 21-year-old. "I thank him for his work and wish him all the best in the future". What a ride that was.

"Thanks to my team, I don't think I would have made it through this week without you", she said after her Australian Open triumph. No reason was given for the decision to part ways.

Less than a half-hour after Osaka's tweet, Bajin responded to her on Twitter.

The US-based player has enjoyed a meteoric rise to the big time after rising from 72 in the world to number 1 in the past 12 months.

In their second tournament together, Osaka produced her career best result at a Grand Slam event.

Osaka withdrew from this week's Qatar Open, citing a back injury.

"Her exciting brand of tennis, coupled with the dignity she displays on and off court, is a winning combination that tennis fans really embrace".
