The Division 2 open beta was seemingly revealed on a livestream

Ubisoft has announced that The Division 2 is being primed for an open beta event that will take place from March 1st to March 4th. The open beta was also mentioned during a live stream session at The Division's official Twitch channel. This trial period will be available across all of the game's platforms: PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Back in January, we were able to try out the game's PvP multiplayer which seems to be building off of the Dark Zone from the original The Division in many thoughtful ways. In a clip captured by Reddit user TiniestBuckle, one of the devs is heard to say "we're going to fix that for the open beta" when addressing an issue now in the game. However, the real highlight had to be The Division 2's endgame with three all-new specializations and a high-level mission. Plus, as Del Boy would say, 'you know it makes sense.' I mean, Ubisoft will want to iron out as many bugs as possible in a big game like The Division before launch, after all.

An open beta would give developers a chance to properly stress test the servers as well as iron out any last minute bugs that arise. If you'd like to pre-order the game ahead of that time, you can do so over on Amazon.
