‘American Idol’ Contestant Antonella Barba Now Facing Federal Drug Conspiracy Charges!

‘American Idol’ Contestant Antonella Barba Now Facing Federal Drug Conspiracy Charges!

Former "American Idol" contestant Antonella Barba is facing federal charges after allegedly working as a courier for a drug ring a year ago, according to court documents.

Barba, 32, was arrested October 11 in downtown Norfolk and charged in a local court with one count of possession of more than 100 grams of heroin with intent to distribute it. The Virginia Pilot reports that Barba had been released on bond from her initial arrest but was arrested on Monday after the federal indictment was levied.

The indictment, which is heavily redacted, names two men as her alleged co-conspirators.

She was previously charged with shoplifting in NY and has a felony marijuana case pending in Kansas.

Now an unsealed federal indictment shows the local drug dealing charges were dropped - and instead the singer is facing federal charges of distribution and conspiracy to distribute fentanyl! Later that month, Stennett delivered about 7 kilos of cocaine to a conspirator.

She faced up to 40 years in prison for the drug-related charges from her October arrest, USA Today reported.

Barba, who competed on season 6 of American Idol in 2007, was working from at least late 2017 through the fall of 2018 as a courier for a drug ring that also trafficked heroin and cocaine, according to an indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Norfolk.

Now, the federal charges identified in the indictment carry a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Barba also made an appearance on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" for a 2018 segment featuring other former "Idol" contestants titled "Where Are They Now?"
