Charles Matthews had 24 points to pace Michigan, which fell into a tie with Michigan State atop the conference 11-and-3. Sophomore Jordan Poole also scored in double digits with 17 points.

The Wisconsin Badgers dropped a 67-59 decision to 12th-ranked Michigan State at the Kohl Center on Tuesday night. With two technical fouls assessed to Beilein, the Nittany Lions would hit three of four free throws to start the half before Zavier Simpson hit a trey in transition, 18 seconds into the half to nullify the free throws.

Penn State took the lead at 10-7 and never looked back, upsetting number-seven MI 75-69 at the Bryce Jordan Center.

The Wolverines worked on cutting into the Penn State lead as the defense forced a jump ball in their favor, Simpson hit two free throws on the opposite end and Teske completed an and-one play with 12:34 left in the second half to cut Michigan's deficit to 52-45.

Happ scored 20 points with 12 rebounds, and Nate Reuvers had 11 points for the Badgers (17-8, 9-5).

Still, the Badgers could have had a larger cushion entering the second half, as they led 32-25 before Michigan State ripped off an 8-0 run to regain control in the game.

Though the game slowed down considerably in the second half, the Spartans' run-and-gun style seemed to tire out the Badgers and lead to the battle of attrition that occurred later on. Wisconsin closes their regular season with six Big Ten games, four of which will come against teams with losing records in conference play.

Perhaps the difference in the game was at the free-throw line. "But there's so many things in the other 37 minutes that we can be better at".

Happ's 20 points put him at 2,000 for his career as he became the fourth player in the Big Ten - and the first in more than 35 years - to hit that mark and grab 1,000 rebounds.

MSU only made two field goals for a 12:03 stretch of the second half after a Kenny Goins three with 14:33 remaining, settling for bad shots and turning the ball over several times.

"I think our defense, holding them to 21 points in the second half, rebounds, getting back to the things that have won us games, I think was critical", Spartan Head Coach Tom Izzo said.

Wisconsin: The Badgers, who had their six-game winning streak snapped on Saturday by MI, missed out on a chance to keep pace with the conference leaders. Wisconsin beat IL in Champaign earlier this season, 72-60, behind a career night from Reuvers.
