Arsenal v Rennes Match Report, 14/3/19, UEFA Europa League

Here are the player ratings from the 3-0 victory. Not sure what else to say.

Aubameyang is Arsenal's top scorer this season with 22 and they are through to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles doubled the lead when the former Borussia Dortmund ace floated in a ideal ball for the Arsenal academy graduate.

Yet within two minutes of the restart, Petr Cech was at full stretch to touch Ismaila Sarr's low 20-yard drive against the post after Shkodran Mustafi carelessly lost the ball.

ARSENAL (3-4-1-2): Cech, Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal, Maitland-Niles, Xhaka, Ramsey (Torreira 87), Kolasinac; Ozil (Mkhitaryan 69); Lacazette (Iwobi 69), Aubameyang.

The striker was famous for his masked celebrations at Borussia Dortmund, wearing Spider-Man and Batman masks after scoring, but Thursday was the first time he performed one in an Arsenal shirt.

After 15 minutes of the second leg, it seemed as though Arsenal were going to cruise into the quarter-finals.

And that is largely down to the brilliance of Aubameyang - who scored a brace and made an assist to help his side through to the next round. He should have had a hat-trick, too, missing two late chances to secure the match ball.

As expected, the visitors mounted more of an attacking effort in the second half, as they sought out a game-changing goal, but their decision making in the final third was sloppy and the Gabonese forward snuck a tap-in in the 71st minute to all but seal their progression to the last eight.

- Arsenal ended Rennes' five-game unbeaten run in the Europa League (W4 D1) courtesy of the French side's biggest-ever margin of defeat in the competition. The late goal was the forward's second of the night, and it all but sealed Arsenal's place in the Europa League quarterfinals.
