Mike Thalassitis: Former Love Island star dies aged 26

Love Island star Michael Thalassitis has been found dead aged just 26.

The striker, who was dubbed "Muggy Mike" by fellow contestants on the show, reportedly passed away near his home town in Essex.

The 26-year-old star was best known for appearing in Love Island in 2017.

Steven Watt, who was Mike's manager when he played for Margate, tweeted "Absolutely gutted, RIP mate".

Chris Hughes took to Twitter on Saturday night to lead the tributes to his former Love Island co-star. Please stop brandishing that.

She added: "My heart and soul and love goes out to his friends & family. A good guy, taken far, far to soon".


Mike's passing is the second tragic Love Island death, following Sophie Gradon's suicide previous year. You'll be missed so much.

Mike had also appeared in Celebs Go Dating and was in a relationship with TOWIE's Megan McKenna before breaking up previous year.

His thousands of followers have shared their thoughts and prayers with Mike's family.

During his time on the show he appared alongside Sam Thompson of Made In Chelsea fame, as well as Gemma Collins.

Thalassitis was going through a turbulent, public break up with The Only Way Is Essex star Megan McKenna.
