Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Gets New Retro-Inspired Color Options

This year, though, Ford is taking a subtler approach with its clover-inspired makeover.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to drive your holiday-appropriate Grabber Lime Mustang to any of this year's St. Patrick's Day celebrations. "And your auto is an extension of that". Ford cheekily calls it "more potent than krypton-ite". So, you'll need the luck of the Irish to tame this snake.

Ford unveiled a new shade of green for its upcoming Shelby Mustang GT500 mid-March, just ahead of the St. Patrick's Day holiday.

Specifically, it's the vintage Mustangs of the 1970s which inspired this new Grabber Lime finish.

"These bright, vibrant retro colors are trending in design - in home furnishings, sportswear and even appliances", said Barb Whalen, Ford's color and materials manager, in a statement. "This colour traces back to a Mustang heritage colour while bringing it forward with more modern, dynamic pigments and bold new energy".

Now, we don't know if any of that is true, but undoubtedly there will be more than a few people who are stoked for the return of bright, garish colors to muscle cars. Along with fresh colors Iconic Silver, Twister Orange, and Red Hot Metallic, this attention-grabbing green is available across the entire Mustang lineup, from EcoBoost and GT to GT350 and GT500, which will all be available this fall.

The new 2020 Ford Mustang arrives this fall.
