Speaker banned from Aust after terror attack comments

Milo Yiannopoulos has been banned from entering Australia for a tour following his comments regarding the Christchurch terror attack. But Australian authorities chose to yank his permission to come following his Facebook post saying attacks like the one in Christchurch happen because the establishment "mollycoddles extremist leftism and barbaric, alien religious cultures".

The government had agreed to the visa after conservative MPs had put pressure on Mr Coleman to override the Department of Home Affairs' advice to ban Mr Yiannopoulos.

In a statement, Immigration Minister David Coleman called Yiannopoulos' comments "appalling" and said they "foment hatred and division".

That decision was reviewed on Saturday morning following Friday's terrorist attack at two mosques in the New Zealand city of Christchurch.

The ban will be the third position the government has held in as many weeks on whether to allow the controversial figure to travel to Australia for a speaking tour later this year.

Coleman added that the attack, which left at least 49 Muslim worshippers dead and dozens injured, was "pure evil".

"Note that not a single word or phrase I used is quoted by the Australian government".

Yiannopoulos defended his comments. I said that we on the Right are constantly disavowing racists.

Earlier this month, Yiannopoulos was barred from entering Australia when his visa application was denied due to character concerns, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. His hate speeches had led to Twitter banning him from its platform in 2016.

Mr Yiannopoulostook to social media after the announcement on Saturday, where he said: "I'm banned from Australia, again, after a statement in which I said I abhor political violence".

"Attacks like this happen because the establishment panders to and mollycoddles extremist leftism and barbaric, alien religious cultures".
