Amir Johnson Fined For Checking Cell Phone During Game 1 Loss

Sixers superstar Joel Embiid, who was questionable with a troubling knee injury, was able to play in Game 1 and scored 24 points in 22 minutes, but aside from Jimmy Butler, almost every Sixers player struggled in Game 1.

However, one of the biggest talking points actually happened on the sideline.

"Completely unacceptable", Sixers coach Brett Brown said of Johnson's actions.

To make matters worse, Joel Embiid and Amir Johnson appeared to be looking at texts on the bench during the fourth quarter of the contest.

At the very least this is going to cost Embiid and/or Johnson a lot of money, and he could be forced to sit for Game 2.

It seems possible, if not likely, that the number won't go up to 11 on Saturday. "I also apologize to my teammates, the 76ers organization and the fans for the distraction this has caused", said Johnson in a release.

Sixers general manager Elton Brand said the team has fined Johnson for detrimental conduct.

That information obviously changes the dynamics of the situation.

Philadelphia secured home-court advantage with a third-place finish in the Eastern Conference, but it was upset by the Nets 111-102 at home in the first game of the first round.
