Lego Unveils Massive New 'Star Wars' Tantive IV Set

"We can think of no better way to start the next 40 years of Star Wars storytelling than to base it on the love, the passion, the fandom that you all have, and make that the foundation of all the Star Wars stories we tell in the future".

The project won a place in the Guinness World Records for being the largest display of Lego Star Wars minifigures ever. So it makes total sense that Lego is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Star Wars line with a brand new version of the ship.

The original from almost two decades ago was part of the Ultimate Collector's Series. The full press release and photo gallery from LEGO are included below.

Fancy features include the shield dish that doubles as a carrying handle, a detailed cockpit with room for two minifigs, the conference room, and a detachable hull to let you play with the insides. The radar dish also doubles as a convenient carry handle, which makes it flawless for flying around the room. The set also includes 5 minifigures and an R2-D2 droid LEGO figure.

In fact, this year's Tantive IV comes with 21 more pieces (1,768 in total) than the UCS Rebel blockade runner did. "Star Wars" and Lego's collaboration also extended to five Lego "Star Wars" video games and several television and web series, not to mention some references to "Star Wars" in Lego movies. It's 62cm long, so is still quite sizeable.

Updated versions of all five minifigs from the original Tantive IV are included: Princess Leia (complete with trousers to change into when the action heats up), C-3PO, R2-D2, Captain Antilles, and a Rebel Fleet Trooper.

LEGO Star Wars 75244 Tantive IV will be available exclusively at from May 3.
