Zidane openly admits Real Madrid are 'going to make changes'

Real Madrid's Dani Carvajal in action with Leganes' Martin Braithwaite.

Speaking ahead of Madrid's LaLiga clash with Leganes on Monday, Zidane said: "Toni is a key player". Madrid has won three and lost one since its former player has been in charge.

Leganes might even have won it after Jonathan Silva gave them the lead shortly before half-time and while Benzema scored his 26th goal of the season, Madrid never looked like finding a victor.

Kroos' first-team opportunities could be restricted by new arrivals and, while saying that he is a fan of the 29-year-old, Zidane could not confirm whether he would still be at the Santiago Bernabeu for 2019-20. "Even if this might have been a bad season, we must all give a bit more".

Real Madrid missed the chance to get within touching distance of Atletico Madrid as Zinedine Zidane's side were held to a 1-1 draw by Leganes in LaLiga.

Zinedine Zidane's team have little to play for as they are out of the title race and the cups, and are in no real danger of missing out on a Champions League place. Gareth Bale, meanwhile, was left on the bench for the second time in three matches, with his prospects looking ever-more bleak.

"All of my players are important and good, but we are going to make changes", Zidane said on Sunday.

Despite decent periods of pressure, Leganes had failed to register a shot on target during the first period until they took the lead on the stroke of half-time.

Who should Madrid sign in the summer?

Real levelled six minutes after the restart.

Casemiro threaded a neat ball through to Luka Modric, who twisted and set free Benzema.

Youssef En-Nesyri thought he had clinched a famous win for Leganes late on, but the offside flag sparred Madrid's blushes in what was a frustrating outing for the visitors.
