Thaddeus Young chipped in with 15 points, while Darren Collison and Tyreke Evans had 13 apiece for Indiana. Entering the fourth quarter, the Pacers held a 79-68 lead.

Irving was the main catalyst in Boston's 16-0 run that spanned over half of the final frame, at one point scoring eight straight points for the C's.

With the series now shifting to IN for the next two games, here's four key takeaways from today's action. Now Irving (28.5 PPG) and Tatum will lead the Celtics to Indianapolis, where the tandem hopes to continue its dominant ways and place the C's in position to advance to the next round.

After a Bogdan Bogdanovic three-pointer gave IN a late lead, Tatum went down the other end and put his team up two with 50.8 seconds left, draining this three-pointer from the corner.

While Brown and Tatum have both already compiled terrific highlight reels in the regular season and playoffs, Celtics head coach Brad Stevens said that their massive connection this time is "one of the best plays" he has ever seen from the two.

The Celtics and Pacers boast two of the league's top defences, meaning points could very well be at a premium throughout this first-round series. Once the teams went into the locker room for intermission and came back for the second half, all the momentum the Pacers had was forgotten. Boston has to be better with ball handling as they committed 17 turnovers in the contest.

Tatum scored 26 points, including his thunderous dunk down the stretch to help punctuate a 10-0 run by Boston over the final five minutes.

"It's just been a long journey", Irving said.

Horford was a game-time decision with an illness but was able to remain in the Celtics' starting lineup.

Tatum totaled 26 while Hayward added 13.

Horford had 10 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists in Boston's Game 1 win on Sunday.

A frequenter of Boston sporting events, Belichick, who turned 67 years old on Tuesday, was joined by his longtime girlfriend Linda Holliday.

The Pacers led for most of the first three quarters, going up by as many as eight in the first half and by 12, 77-65, on a Myles Turner shot with 1:04 remaining in the third period.

In addition to the battle of the boards, the Celtics scored 48 points in the paint to the Pacers' 36, a testament to the interior presence and rim protection of Horford and Baynes as well as Kyrie Irving, who had two blocks on the night as well. As the series shifts back to IN, the Pacers will need more from him on the offensive end as they seek their first win.
