Additionally, through 'Family Sharing, ' up to six family members can share subscriptions to Apple TV channels using just their Apple ID and password.

The new iOS 12.3 software update is finally here, the software landed yesterday and it brings a range of new features to the iPhone and iPad. The Apple TV app offering Apple TV channels also is available on all 2019 Samsung smart TVs and select 2018 models. "In the US, Apple TV channels include popular services such as HBO, Starz, SHOWTIME, Smithsonian Channel, EPIX, Tastemade, and new services like MTV Hits, with more to be added over time around the world".

The Apple TV app will also make it to the Roku platform later this year, presumably both Roku streaming players and Roku TVs.

Apple announced the new TV app as part of its Apple TV+ and broader services announcement in late March.


Apple TV Channels have been included in the new TV app and this is meant to facilitate the streaming of videos of various different genre consolidating them in one place.

iOS 12.3 additionally fixes bugs and improves functionality in Apple News+, Apple Music, Apple TV Remote, AirPlay 2, and CarPlay. Apple made sure to point out that the Apple TV app is the only place where HBO subscribers can legally download episodes of the hit show Game of Thrones, which is approaching its grand finale (viewers outside the USA have other options). Apple TV+, the company's subscription service for original content, is coming later this year. Apple is reportedly asking for a 30% cut on all subscribers who sign up for third-party services through the TV app. The TV app update adds the aforementioned Kids section at the top of the screen.

Also starting from today, with AirPlay 2-enabled Samsung Smart TVs, customers can effortlessly play videos and other content from their iPhone, iPad or Mac directly to their Samsung Smart TV.

If you've had trouble with the first restart after a minor upgrade, try quitting all running apps first or log into a clean admin account.
