Epic Games Store Quietly Launches in Chinese Gray Area

Epic Games Store Quietly Launches in Chinese Gray Area

The Epic Games store home page, meanwhile, has the full rundown on all of the partners' sales.

If you happened to pre-purchase a game before May 16 for $14.99 and above, you will receive a $10 refund automatically to the payment method you used in the next 7-12 days.

There are discounts big and small across the store, but the core of the sale is a $10 discount across the board for every game over $14.99. That means pre-orders for games like Borderlands 3, Control, Vampire The Masquerade 2 and John Wick Hex are already discounted.

So Epic is getting in there first, with the Mega Sale offering discounts of up to 75%. Even pre-orders of unlreleased games before the sale kicked in are set to get a £10 refund to their accounts. It seems to suggest that there may have been some concern from the studio's player fanbase that they might be considering such a move, as suggested by Reddit user Slawrfp, possibly precipitated by their appearance at the Epic Games Store-hosted show. On a related note, if you bought a game between May 2 and May 15, Epic promises to refund you the difference in price between what you paid and what you would have paid if you'd done so during the sale. It's now being offered for $8.09 on the SA store (still in USD), which is a discount of less than a single Dollar.

Of course, don't forget that you get £10 (or $10) off nearly any game you buy (with the aforementioned caveats). Examples include Ubisoft's new Tom Clancy game, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, No Code's Observation, 4A Games' Metro Exodus, and others, marking a shift in the competition between Epic and its major rival, Valve, owner of the Steam store.

The game's retail price is now $24.99, up from $19.99 at launch, based on continued improvements and additions we've made so far in Early Access, including: "an entire new biome, 7 new fully voiced characters including 4 new bosses, hundreds of new fully voiced narrative events, 10 new enemy types, a new weapon, and dozens of new powers and abilities".

It's a busy day over on the Epic Games Store.

The accidentally leaked Epic Games Store mega sale is now officially live and it's boasting some pretty sick deals. "To all our players, thank you for your patience and understanding around this".

Despite missing basic features like a shopping cart (yes it's still missing even during a big sale), the Epic Store is making a case for buying games on the platform.
