Trash found littering Mariana Trench floor in deepest-ever sub dive

Businessman Victor Vescovo broke the record for deepest dive ever by reaching the bottom of the Marianna Trench. It's the first attempt to reach the deepest point in each of the Earth's five oceans-the Puerto Rico Trench in the Atlantic, South Sandwich Trench in the Southern Ocean, Java Trench in the Indian Ocean, Challenger Deep in the Pacific, and Molloy Deep in the Arctic. They reportedly discovered human-made objects on the ocean's floor, like plastic objects and angular metals, and undiscovered marine species.

However, Stephanie Fitzeherbert, a spokeswoman for Vescovo's team says that can't be confirmed.

Super-sub: The submarine, named Limiting Factor, is 15 feet long and 9 feet wide. On May 3, the Limiting Factor submersible freed and recovered a Five Deeps Expedition scientific lander that had got stuck at the bottom of Challenger Deep in a previous dive. "It was very disappointing to see obvious human contamination of the deepest point in the ocean", Vescovo said. "I did not see a plastic grocery bag or candies wrappers".

A documentary series that chronicles his expedition will air on Discovery Channel later this year.

Aside from gathering biological samples like rocks and sand from the bottom of the ocean, Vescovo's mission seeks to conduct sonar mapping in the unknown areas of the deep sea.

Titanic director James Cameron repeated the feat in 2012. Most importantly we have opened the door to the final frontier - the exploration of the hadal zone and the workings of the deepest parts of the world's oceans", "This vehicle is effectively a reliable elevator that can transport us to any depth, in any ocean. Scientists on Vescovo's team plan to conduct tests on some of the creatures to discern the levels of microplastics in their bodies, which could further bolster the claim of the man-made material's presence in the ocean depths.

Deep Sea Diving is one of the most outdoor adventurous actiivites that many people resort to while holidaying.

Victor's team found a plastic bag and sweet wrappers.

Technology has changed quite a bit since the Challenger Deep was first explored in 1960 by oceanographers Don Walsh and Jacques Piccard in the submersible Triest.

The global Five Deeps expedition has successfully completed the deepest submarine dive in history.

The challenges of exploring the deep ocean - even with robotic vehicles - has made the ocean trenches one of the last frontiers on the planet.
