After 12 seasons, 'The Big Bang Theory' ends on an emotional note

"You know you work with wonderful and extremely thoughtful people when they celebrate your June birthday along with today's birthdays because you won't be together when it comes around this summer", she wrote on Instagram. "And you're susceptible and thrown around by the whims of your own existence and getting to a certain age and your life changes and suddenly you just think different", Parsons continued. "Whatever it is, once I had that thought, I was like, well, that's your answer".

"It all started with the big bang!" has been a constant murmur in our ears for 12 years and while there were times, a few of us gave up, the rest of us stuck by and watched four geeky scientists and a pretty blonde worm their way into our television screen and hearts. I'm of the mind-set that it can go on forever. Colbert's featured an extended interview with the cast of "Big Bang".

Lorre's vanity card closed with two simple words, "The End", and the final shot showed the seven stars sitting around on a couch, as viewers have seen them do so often before. The scene between Amy and Sheldon where she tells him off was the last one we filmed before we got ready for the audience to come in.

The Big Bang Theory ended on Thursday after 12 seasons. When we leave these characters and say goodbye to them, we know their life is continuing and expanding. But it's like, you're not the same person you were.

Which of these show's will you miss the most?

"Thank you for letting me share my birthday on stage with my six best friends, and thank you, for you, because without you - there would be no us".

"It's the Friends of our generation", one user commented on a Weibo post about The Big Bang Theory's finale, a view shared by some Western viewers. It's just more comforting that way. The show has become a favorite of the scientific community who have named several species in its honor - the Euglossa bazinga, a bee; the Bazinga Rieki, a species of jellyfish; and a monkey at the Columbus Zoo named Dr. Sheldon Cooper.

The fact that Sheldon doesn't actually meet Leonard, Penny and Co. until adulthood precluded little Sheldon from actually interacting with the miniature versions of his future pals. Later, Jake, Holt, Amy, Terry, Rosa, and Charles ally themselves with old enemies to catch a criminal. No, Raj didn't get married. Surely he'd believe you without a lick of flagrant condescension, right? "Jim wanted to do other things and that was the main reason he wanted to stop The Big Bang Theory". Totally understandable, or something he should have exhausted to move past?

The Big Bang Theory is ending after 12 seasons.
