St Albans mental health champion has spoken out after a man died shortly after filming an episode of The Jeremy Kyle Show.

According to Gemma, the only time the show got in touch with her was to offer to pay for her teeth to be fixed - in return for a second stint which led to the online abuse continuing.

What happened on The Jeremy Kyle Show?

She alleged: "The audience is as much to blame - it's turned into a freak show, a circus - when the audience started laughing at other people".

She said: "The whole show was antagonising for the guests; the producers would go into the green room and basically wind them up before they went on stage".

In light of the news, the St Albans district council (SADC) mental health champion, Cllr Anthony Rowlands, described The Jeremy Kyle Show as "ritual, public humiliation".

Many fans are calling for the popular ITV2 dating show Love Island to be cancelled, following news earlier this week that The Jeremy Kyle Show has been axed due to the death of a former guest. They paid for a vehicle to take me up to Manchester for the treatment.

Gemma said that she doesn't regret going on the show.

But she claimed that the team tried to stroke tensions, explaining: "The show called me and told me all this stuff she was saying about me - disgusting stuff like she was going to knock my teeth down my throat and that I should brush them".

"They told me it had been red taped and would never come up on TV again". I still get a lot of trouble when I go out, so I don't go out that often.

"I tried to commit suicide a few times". They were saying, 'Make sure you say what you need to say because she's really slagging you off'.

On its subject of care after recording the show, they said: "The day after recording of the show the participant will be contacted by production to carry out a welfare check and provide details of the services that have been sourced for them".

The decision comes after the death of a guest who recently filmed an episode for the series where he failed a lie detector test trying to prove his faithfulness to his girlfriend. ITV has since said that the episode in question will not be aired.

"The Jeremy Kyle Show has had a loyal audience and has been made by a dedicated production team for 14 years, but now is the right time for the show to end".

However, the show's lie detector suggested he had strayed, which friends say left Steve distraught.
