Watch Full Trailer for Film Sequel

The first official trailer for the Downton Abbey movie contains nearly nothing in the way of story (a royal luncheon!) but that's not what we're going back for, is it? Written by Julian Fellowes, who created and wrote Downton Abbey, the film was directed by Michael Engler, who previously helmed four episodes of the show in total, including the Season 6 Christmas Special/series finale.

Focus Features has released a full trailer for the period drama's follow-up film, in which the Crawleys must prepare for a visit from the king and queen. Whether you're ready to score tickets for the blockbuster of the year, binge-watch the latest hit series or track down that collector's DVD, Moviefone makes it happen - fast, cheap and just how you like it.

Maggie Smith plays Violet Crawley in Downton Abbey. But we didn't know it would introduce a possible love interest for Allen Leech's Tom Branson or show us the fiery side of Lesley Nicol's Mrs Patmore, which is always fun to see.

The first official trailer shows all the familiar faces as they gather back at home, when Robert receives some unexpected news. Downton Abbey opens in theaters on September 20th.

It's 1927 and the King and Queen are coming to Downton.

The television series Downton Abbey followed the lives of the Crawley family and the servants who worked for them at the turn of the 20 century in an Edwardian English country house.
