"Frank knows Chelsea, he knows the players and the players will respect him".

Maurizio Sarri is widely expected to leave Chelsea this summer to join Juventus after just one season in charge of the Blues and the club are actively beginning their search for a new manager.

The Premier League club have turned to their former midfielder, Frank Lampard, as they begin the hunt for their next manager.

The Catalan went on to win 14 trophies in four years at the Nou Camp, including two Champions League titles, with his Barca side among the most revered in football history.

Juventus are reportedly waiting to sell Alex Sandro before making an approach for the Chelsea full-back, but the player stressed that he is very much content at Stamford Bridge for the moment.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wants the Italian's successor to already be in place when his departure is announced.

Lampard had an impressive debut season in management with the Rams last term and he was lauded for the attacking style of play which almost propelled the club back to the Premier League.

"No disrespect to [Massimiliano] Allegri and what he's done at Juventus but they have had Carlo Ancelotti, they have had Antonio Conte, Sarri, Jose Mourinho, all managers who have done great things and never stuck with them".

Jesus has since accepted to become Flamengo manager, replacing Abel Braga who left the Brazil club in May. I know it's a smaller club but we have seen him do it. We want to try to play.

Lampard's desire to play attractive football is highlighted by Derby averaging 455 passes per match last season, the fifth-highest total in the Championship, while their 69 goals in the regular season was the seventh-most. The transfer ban is a blow to the club, but it actually works in Lampard's favour.

There are huge question marks over Lampard's readiness for such a role, but there is no doubt that it would be an extremely popular appointment.
