Man Utd star Marcos Rojo ‘forced to leave hotel’ after mystery death

The Turlock man is one of four Americans who have mysteriously died while vacationing in the Dominican Republic in the past few months.

As news of these deaths continues to populate headlines, The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana issued its own public statement after two Americans staying at the resort also fell ill and died suddenly within the previous year.

Relatives of the those who have died are demanding answers, just as tourism officials in the country are calling the incidents unrelated and isolated.

What was once a carefree decision on a Caribbean vacation - a trip to the Dominican Republic - has become something of a nightmare for Americans contemplating a trip to the island.

Holmes, 63, and Day, 49, were found on May 30 by an employee of the Bahia Principe Hotel in La Romana who went to their room after they failed to check out, according to reports.

David Harrison of Maryland died at the same resort previous year.

Arnold also reiterates that her uncle, an avid traveler, had been in good health before his sudden death.

Dominican authorities asked for the FBI's help in conducting toxicology analysis in the investigations stemming from the deaths at the luxury destinations run by the Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts, according to the U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo.

According to Dominican officials, the cause of death was excess fluid in the lungs.

More than 6 million tourists visit the Dominican Republic each year, which is an important source of revenue for the country.


Dominican authorities have said that each fatality was isolated and due to natural causes, though the victims families are having doubts, some have even hired lawyers in preparation to contest those claims, Fox News reports. Sport's sister Felecia Nieves, in an interview with FOX29, said they were told Sport died from a heart attack.

'He started feeling very sick, he had blood in his urine and stool right afterwards'.

Respiratory failure, cardiac arrest or a mixture of both were given as the causes of five of the deaths, with findings for the sixth tourist, Robert Bell Wallace, not released. On April 11, he had a scotch from the minibar.

"We have some reporters on the ground that are assisting us in gathering information that might be available", he told AFP.

Wallace's case is similar to Miranda Schaup-Werner's. He was in the Dominican Republic to attend his stepson's wedding.

'We have so many questions, ' she said.

"We want these tests and investigation to be carried out carefully and professionally".

Meanwhile, Kaylynn Knull and her boyfriend, Tom Schwander, of Colorado, said they both turned sick whereas staying on the Giant Bahia Principe resort in June 2018.
