One person killed, 7 others injured in graduation party shooting

KYW-TV reports the shooting occurred Sunday shortly before 10:30pm near South 70th Street and Reed Bird Place in the so-called City of Brotherly Love.

Around 60 people were at the party when shots rang out, Ross said.

According to Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross, four of the victims were teenagers between the age of 15 to 17, who suffered gunshot wounds to their legs.

The gunman entered the room and fired at least eight shots, as reported by NBC Philadelphia.

"These are the things that absolutely drive us insane", he said.

Police said one of three males hanging out near a parking lot area approached the partying group in the park and opened fire.

The shooting is one of several homicides that occurred during a deadly weekend in the city.

Ross said police were ramping up their patrols in response to the violence but said there was only so much they could do. "That's something that's even more troubling that you could do that realizing the carnage you could cause that was caused out here tonight".
