Stranger Things 3 smashes viewing figure record for Netflix

The streaming service says "Stranger Things 3" has been viewed by more than 40 million households since it's full-season premiere on July 4.

But these are big numbers any way you slice it, and in any case you probably didn't need Netflix to tell you what all of us already know from personal experience: that people really, really like this show.

Remarkably enough, in the four days since release, some 18.2 million accounts have managed burn through the entire series in full, which means there was an absolute shitload of people clocking some serious couch time over this past weekend.

It also stated that a whopping "18.2 million have already finished the entire season", which consists of eight episodes.

The Twitter account of Netflix released the numbers of the show's viewing and it has been incredibly high. This newest season follows the resident of Hawkins, Ind., as they are besieged by interdimensional forces and evil Russians. As per the company's metrics system, a view is counted as anyone having watched at least 70 per cent of an episode or movie. Now as you look around your Stranger Things environments you can look the part, with new skins and other cosmetics modeled after the hit Netflix show.

According to the streaming platform, the immensely popular drama series, which released its third season in its entirety on July 4th, has reportedly broken viewership records within a week of its release.
