Linked Mario Lemina opens up on his desire to leave Southampton

Here, Arsenal and Man United are linked with Mario Lemina....

Mario Lemina will move to the club who offers him the most lucrative financial package this summer, 90min understands, leaving Manchester United ahead of Arsenal in pursuit of the midfielder.

He started 18 Premier League games in the Premier League, scoring once and providing one assist, although he did suffer injury problems.

The 25-year-old Gabon worldwide completed a £15.4m transfer from Juventus a couple of summers back but eventually lost his place under new boss Ralph Hasenhüttl.

United are in the market for a central midfielder following the departure of Ander Herrera to Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.

On Tuesday, reports popped up claiming that Arsenal, Manchester United and Leicester have all made "enquiries" about signing Lemina.

The latest midfielder that United are rumoured to be interested in is a surprising one - Southampton's Mario Lemina, who joined the Saints from Juventus in 2017 for a fee of £15.4 million.

It was only this weekend when the Gabonese global admitted he was open to leaving the Saints.

In spite of those numbers, Lemina said: 'I am truly looking to find consistency again, to become an important player in a team again with big objectives.

"I did not accompany the team in training in agreement with the coach [Ralph Hasenhuttl]. But it is true that I do not rule out the possibility of seeing something else", he said. He wants to build his group with the players who want to stay at the club, so he left me out.

"Today, after four months of injury, I am not targeting anything in particular".

Would you like to see Lemina play for a bigger club? As early as past year, I had set my conditions, I wanted to go elsewhere this summer. I stand by my plan, I chose to tell the leaders that I wanted to leave, there is no turning back.
