Kevin Durant Changing His Jersey Number With Brooklyn Nets

Kevin Durant Changing His Jersey Number With Brooklyn Nets

The We Got Nets guys are back for Episode Five of their Brooklyn Nets Podcast, this time looking at the aftermath of the Nets' signings, Kawhi Leonard leaving the Eastern Conference and much, much more.

Nets coach Kenny Atkinson commented: "the entire coaching staff is excited to have the opportunity to coach a player of Kyrie's caliber". Rather than No. 35, which the 10-time All-Star has worn for the entirety of his National Basketball Association career, he will don No. 7 in Brooklyn.

All-Star Kevin Durant. After beginning his N.B.A. career in 2007, Durant would become the franchise face of the Oklahoma City Thunder and would go on to win two N.B.A. championships with the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018.

"We're thankful to Kevin for the incredible things he did for our team and franchise during his three years with the Warriors", Golden State general manager Bob Myers said.

The deal bringing Kevin Durant to Brooklyn is official, and he's changing his number along with his address.

Durant released a statement saying he wore 35 to honor someone "very near and dear" to him. But he says the change signifies the next chapter in his basketball career. "Their determination to play together proved even stronger, in the end, than many league observers expected", writes Marc Stein.

The 30-year-old forward won back-to-back National Basketball Association titles with the Warriors in 2016-17 and 2017-18 and averaged 26.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game last season.

He is signing a four year contract worth $164 million and will be playing along side Kyrie Irving in Brooklyn.
