'It is something special' - Lampard's work with Chelsea squad hailed by Azpilicueta

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has rubbished claims that new boss Frank Lampard's inexperience in management will be a problem for the club, amid calls for the club to reunite under his leadership following a rocky season.

Chelsea's head coach appeared in good spirits following the match though, insisting that he was happy with his side's performance and stressed that the game was all about fitness.

Before their return to London, the former Derby County manager ensured that he had an opportunity to assess everyone on Chelsea's books who was available to report for pre-season training and travel to Dublin for their clash with Bohemians.

"I have a way of working that can be taxing on the players and we wanted to get straight into it".

"It was a long season because of the Europa League final, so after that I went back home to Argentina and spent some time with the family". 'I am sure his desire and passion for being manager and this chance to be manager of Chelsea, the club he loves and where the fans love him.

"We've only been back just a few days so there had been some pressure on the lads and we have been working them very hard".

Pedro said: "We've been training really hard with Frank this week".

"It could have been even better but we won a trophy, which is always important, and we finished third". The way he spoke to us on the first day was wonderful and he's been great so far.

Unfortunately Pedro never had the chance to play with Lampard on the pitch. 'Sarri is gone and I can only wish him the best but it was his choice and now we have to move on. Michy Batshuayi struck early before the Londoners conceded an equaliser in the 89th minute but this could not detract from the energising effect of the new manager. 'We are delighted to have him as a manager.

"He told us how he wants us to play, his ideas, how he wants us to train and how much work we must put in to be successful". We will work hard because we have an exciting season ahead, new challenges and the only way to prepare it is by working hard and getting success at the end of the season. "We're not going to win anything thinking about the past or complaining".
