Brendan Rodgers hoping Leicester can keep Harry Maguire

Leicester City's Harry Maguire has finally left the club's training camp in France to undergo Manchester United medical in the next 48 hours.

United are the current hot favourites to land Maguire, but there has been some money come in for City to possibly hijack the move at the eleventh hour with the defender open to the idea to joining whichever club agrees a fee with Leicester.

Rodgers did not mention United by name but said a "huge club" were interested in the 26-year-old England centre-back.

In quotes published by the Leicester Mercury after Maguire played 45 minutes in a pre-season friendly against Scunthorpe United, Rodgers said: "It's pretty simple really and we're quite relaxed about it".

"It's a hard one because I think the back four is certainly somewhere that they have had issues, but he had a really good season past year and hopefully he can replicate that", he added.

There have been reports that Maguire has informed Leicester of his desire to leave and though Rodgers would not comment on those suggestions, he did admit he saw the appeal of the clubs linked with his player.

"Harry is a top-class player". Harry is relaxed about it, we are, he's been absolutely brilliant.

"It seems like English players command a premium and if they could get him for the right price, I think it would be a good buy".

"I worked with Liverpool and I understand what the attraction can be for a player to go to one of those clubs".

United reportedly met officials from Sporting to make progress on the deal this week and now reports by Italian website Alfredo Pedulla say the Portuguese club have found his replacement.
