LG will ‘Defy Limits’ at the IFA 2019, teaser video out

The IFA 2019 trade show in Berlin is just around the corner, and we now know a little more about what to expect from LG.

LG Electronics hinted at new features of its dual-screen accessory for the follow-up model of its 5G smartphone, V50 ThinQ, in a teaser video.

The LG G8X ThinQ will be a successor to the LG G8 ThinQ which was launched in February with some minor changes. Unlike its predecessor, LG G8X comes with a waterdrop notch on the front with thin bezels on the side with a decent amount of bezel on the top and bottom. While that is expected to be the upcoming V-series smartphone, LG appears to be readying up another smartphone which is reportedly labelled as the LG G8X ThinQ as renders and some information about the device has now been leaked online. It has a dual rear camera setup accompanied with an LED flash, aligned horizontally, like the one we have seen in G8 ThinQ. This suggests the smartphone might finally feature an under-display fingerprint sensor making it the first LG smartphone to do so.

The presence of the waterdrop notch means there's no room for 3D face unlock, neither is there a fingerprint scanner at the back of the phone.

According to OnLeaks, the G8X ThinQ measures 159.3 x 75.8 x 8.5mm and has a 6.2-inch display. A familiar button setup consists of a power button on the right side with volume controls and a physical Google Assistant key on the left.

Surprisingly, the LG G8X will not feature the company's Crystal Sound OLED speaker which we previously saw in the G8 lineup.

Smartphones from the stables of United States tech giant Apple and China's Huawei are also expected to hit shelves in the coming months.
