16-year-old Fortnite world champ 'swatted' during Twitch stream

Since winning the Fortnite tournament and walking away with an wonderful $3 million (£2.4 million), Bugha has already faced hackers targeting his social media accounts - but this is the first (and hopefully only) time he's been swatted.

Kyle "Bugha" Giersdorf, the 16-year-old Fortnite player who just became the newest World Cup solo champion, had his home "swatted" on Saturday as he live-streamed a session alongside pro players Ghost Bizzle and FaZe Dubs, Kotaku reports.

Corporal Albert Werner of the Upper Pottsgrove Township Police told ESPN that the department received a call from a person acting as Giersdorf.

Authorities say an OH gamer recruited Barriss to "swat" a Wichita gamer, but that the address they used was old, leading police to Finch, who was not involved in the video game or the dispute.

"I've been swatted", Bugha said on the live stream. which, BTW, is a dumb trend when someone makes a fake claim on a 911 call to get law enforcement to crash an unsuspecting victim's home.

'They come in with guns, bro, ' the gamer continues, sounding shaken.

Bugha came back to the stream, and explained that one of the police officers knew of his gaming career and reputation, so the situation was resolved quickly and without further issue. The teen could be heard speaking to his father in the background saying, "I've been swatted?"

The 16-year-old - real name Kyle Giersdorf - was playing the same game that made him an instant millionaire when armed cops surrounded his home. "They literally pulled up, holy shit. That's scary. The internet's f-- insane".

FWIW - Bugha's friends won the game while the swatting was going down. In 2017, for instance a 28-year-old Kansas man was killed by police who responded to what they were misled to believe was a reported murder.

Authorities said Finch, who appeared to have no connection to the prank caller, was shot by a Wichita police officer.
