Series The Morning Show

Series The Morning Show

The Morning Show will star Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell as a trio of journalists that work on a network morning show.

If the trailer is any indication, The Morning Show is going to look a little like another seminal news drama: Aaron Sorkin's The Newsroom. "Guess what?" says Aniston. Meanwhile, sound bites of Aniston, Carell and Witherspoon's characters play over the promo - and none of 'em sound particularly happy with their current jobs. According to Apple, the drama will provide "an inside look at the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning, exploring the unique challenges faced by the women (and men) who carry out this daily televised ritual".

I think they want to trust that the person that is telling them the truth about the world is an honest person.

Aniston co-stars on the series, which is set in the world of morning TV news, with Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell - who hasn't done much TV of his own since he left The Office during its seventh season in 2011.

The series, which has already received a two-season and 20-episode order and created by Michael Ellenberg (The Leftovers) with Kerry Ehrin serving as the series' writer. It also marks Aniston's return to television for the first time in 15 years since starring in one of the main roles on the hit NBC sitcom Friends, with the actress also choosing to focus on film roles.

Aniston, Witherspoon and Carrell all appeared at Apple's big announcement event back in March.

This is just one of many original series Apple has been working on for the upcoming Apple TV+ streaming service.
