The Crown season 3 release date announced

The Crown season 3 release date announced

It's been almost two years since fans of Netflix's hit The Crown got their fix, and we now know when our favourite royals drama will return to TV: Nov. 17!

After two years at the helm, Claire Foy has handed Queen Lizzie's sceptre over to Oscar-winner Olivia Colman for the upcoming third season of Netflix's The Crown.

Colman has said she is "thrilled" to take on the role, and has called her predecessor Foy "a real genius" and "an incredibly hard act to follow".

It's been a long time coming, but Netflix has *finally* revealed the release date for season three of The Crown.

This comes almost two years on from the second season of the British drama, which launched on December 8, 2017.

The third season of The Crown will also see expanded roles for the royal children, like Prince Charles and Princess Anne.

Characters such as Camilla Parker Bowles will also start to emerge in the next season.

It will have been nearly two years since the last outing of the show on Netflix, with the royal drama completely recasting as the story moves on to later in Queen Elizabeth's reign. The Crown season 3 arrives November 17 - lock it in, right now. Tobias Menzies plays her husband, Prince Phillip, and Oscar nominee Helena Bonham Carter portrays her sister, Princess Margaret.

Season 4 will begin production later this year, and will feature newcomer Emma Corrin as Princess Diana and Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher.
