Heat index to hit 100 with hot, humid, stormy week ahead

The warning was issued just before 3 p.m. when the agency located over Etobicoke to Scarborough south of Highway 401 is tracking east at 30 km/h. There is still the chance for a shower or storm later in the day as a cold front works in from the west. A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is on the way after 1 p.m., with the potential for gusty winds and heavy rain. This is the line of storms that could have isolated damaging wind gusts.

FOX Futurecast models have thunderstorms crossing the Indiana-Illinois border after 2 p.m. Storms will close into the Indianapolis metro area after 4 p.m. with scattered storm chances lingering for much of the evening. That trend continues for the next couple of days at least, with heat settling in and heat indexes reaching the century mark or higher during the afternoon hours. There is a slight risk for severe storms in the southeastern part of the state on Sunday. Highs will drop near 90 on Wednesday behind the front and into the upper 80s Thursday and Friday.

Tonight: Isolated overnight storms. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny.

Tomorrow: Hot n' humid again, even less chance for a storm. Highs in the low 80s.
