Arrow's Stephen Amell Will Play Pro Wrestler In New TV Drama

Arrow's Stephen Amell Will Play Pro Wrestler In New TV Drama

So, the new gig might not be a legit superhero, but a wrestler should be right in Amell's wheelhouse.

Actor and occasional pro wrestler Stephen Amell is set to star in a wrestling-themed drama.

Stephen Amell plays the heel in the wrestling ring of the Heels series but the synopsis reveals that living up to that character in real life is not as easy, and leaving it behind is even harder. Spade is determined to make the DWA into an empire no matter what it takes. With the mind of an artist in the body of a warrior and a Steve Jobs-like need for perfection and for control.

Plot details for the final season of Arrow are being kept under lock and key, but Stephen Amell is returning to conclude the series with a final 10-episode run sans co-star Emily Bett Rickards, who opted not to come back.

Heels is set in Georgia, and follows a family-owned wrestling company, Duffy Wrestling Association (or the DWA).

Amell would then appear in another tag team match for Ring of Honor's Survival of the Fittest, teaming with Rhodes this time (alongside Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks), before competing in his first ever singles match against Christopher Daniels at Rhodes' independent event All In. Amell will play the role of Jack Spade, the heel (a wrestling term for villain) in the ring to his brother's good guy.

We previously reported that AEW said that Stephen Amell will always have an open door for him if he wants to join them. Mike O'Malley will serve as showrunner. With only ten episodes remaining, the trend-setting series is highly anticipated. The culminating storyline will incorporate Warner Bros., CW's Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman and Supergirl.

Courtesy of Deadline, Amell has signed on to headline Starz's upcoming wrestling-driven drama Heels. Will you tune in to see Amell's new series?
