Denver Broncos, preseason week 3

Denver Broncos, preseason week 3

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo #10 of the San Francisco 49ers throws an interception under pressure from outside linebacker Bradley Chubb #55 of the Denver Broncos during the first quarter of a preseason game at Broncos Stadium at Mile High on August 19, 2019 in Denver, Colorado.

Other than Garoppolo's rusty performance, the 49ers had Mullens and Beathard-who have 13 career combined starts in the NFL-play for most of the game, with the latter completing 5 of 11 passes for 81 yards in the preseason win.

Monday night's game against Denver is, at the end of the day, a Week 2 preseason game where most of the 49ers' starters got their first action of the year. He looked tentative in the preseason game against the Broncos, and was just slow in his decision making - clearly not trusting his reads. It is unclear how much he will play against the Rams, but he's one of Denver's key offensive players so it will be worth monitoring. The current team provided us with more than enough to discuss after Week 2 of the National Football League preseason.

Per NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco, Shanahan said, "I believe in both of those guys".

Garoppolo, 27, is entering the second season of a five-year, $137 million contract extension he signed last year after being traded from the New England Patriots in October 2017. "It's something I haven't done in a year obviously, so got to knock the rust off and everything and thankfully we have a short week this week so we can bounce back quickly but it's the first step of getting back into it".
