Documents Appear to Show Sarah Palin's Husband Wants Divorce

The husband of former United States vice-presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, is reported to have filed for divorce, according to U.S. media. Todd Palin, 55, cited an "incompatibility of temperament between the parties such that they find it impossible to live together as husband and wife", in a document filed Friday in Anchorage, according to the Anchorage Daily News.

Palin served as Alaska governor from 2006 to 2009.

She then moved into politics, becoming governor of Alaska, and then John McCain's surprise pick as his running mate in the 2008 Us presidential election.

The divorce filing uses initials rather than full names, but identifies the couple's marriage date and the birth date of their only child who is a minor, Trig Palin.

Sarah and Todd had been married for 31 years after eloping together in 1988.

The Palins are also parents to 18-year-old daughter Piper and 25-year-old Willow, who recently announced that she and new husband Ricky Bailey are expecting twins in December.

Unlike Sarah, Todd has remained relatively low key and out of the spotlight.

But almost a decade later - and some 31 years after they eloped and after raising five children together - that rumored divorce came true. "I'd hate to speculate on the cause - what happens behind closed doors, and how people grow and change over time is something no one can ever predict or understand, save those two people".

A brawl broke out at an Anchorage house party involving members of Sarah Palin's family in 2014, with allegations that Bristol Palin punched the host several times in the face.

Todd Palin reportedly requested joint custody of Trig.
