Los Angeles Rams at Carolina Panthers - 9/8/19 NFL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Carolina Panthers fell to the Los Angeles Rams Sunday 30-27 during the team's home opener of the NFL's 100th season. The Panthers have won five of the last six meetings.

Few in the National Football League have had as long an offseason as Los Angeles running back Todd Gurley.

Prior to that, Malcolm Brown carried the vast majority of the load for the Rams (1-0) and finished with 53 yards on 11 carries and two touchdowns.

Newton completed 25 of 38 passes for 239 yards, but had a costly backward pass that resulted in a fumble deep in Carolina territory leading to a Rams touchdown. He did not participate in any preseason games, along with the rest of the Rams' starters and key rotational players.

Not to mention, if most games for Miami turn out to be like Sunday's loss to Baltimore, what player is going to want to be part of the disaster?

The Panthers are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games versus NFC opponents.

Gurley finished with 97 yards on 14 carries and put the game away in the 4th. You never know if Cam Newton is going to be healthy, and outside of Christian McCaffrey, there's not a lot of depth at the skill positions. "I'm here, so really just get ready for Sunday". Whatever the Rams did, it worked in Week 1. The under is 4-1 in Panthers last 5 games overall.

Rams free safety Eric Weddle left the game in the second quarter with a head laceration after trying to tackle a leaping McCaffrey. After an unsuccessful Super Bowl run past year, the Rams are looking to get back there and prove that they were there for a reason.

Popular former Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme began working as an analyst for Carolina's radio broadcast team.

The Panthers got a break to start the quarter as the special teams blocked a punt from Johnny Hecker and recovered it inside the Rams 10 yard line. This is a chance for the Panthers to set the tone of their season early and for Newton to quiet those doubters right out of the gate.
