Netanyahu unveils evidence of new Iranian ‘nuclear weapons’ site

"I don't differentiate between the settlement blocs and isolated settlements". Some 65,000 Palestinians and about 11,000 illegal Israeli settlers live in the area - most of which is under Israeli military control in what is referred to as Area C.

Israel in the past has emphasised the importance of the Jordan Valley, which runs along the eastern West Bank, for Israeli security. Jordan initially won the land during Israel's 1948 War of Independence, but Israel captured it during the 1967 Six-Day War but never annexed it into the country.

"There is one place where we can apply Israeli sovereignty immediately after the elections", Netanyahu said in a televised speech.

Israel uncovered the secret nuclear base in a trove of Iranian documents they previously obtained and released publicly a year ago.

The gaffe comes as Netanyahu fights for his survival ahead of next week's re-do election. This time, however, there's expected to be less small parties running and more unity amongst the Israeli conservatives.

The United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency announced earlier this week that samples taken by its investigators several months ago from a "secret atomic warehouse" in Tehran - where Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told them to look - came up positive for radioactive particles.

Netanyahu has recently aligned himself with U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladmir Putin, who he will meet with just days before the election.

Benjamin Netanyahu has announced he will annex large swathes of the occupied Palestinian territories if he is re-elected next week.

"Netanyahu is the chief destroyer of the peace process and any foolish move he makes will leave negative consequences on him locally and internationally", said PA Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh.

Iran has said that the re-imposition of sanctions means that it is no longer bound by the terms of the agreement, and that it intends to enrich uranium to a level previously prohibited.

The White House declined to comment on the record regarding whether the Trump administration has been briefed on what Netanyahu presented.
