Sister of Clips' Leonard charged in deadly robbery

Williams and Candace Tai Townsel are accused of following 84-year-old Afaf Anis Assad into a Temecula casino bathroom on August 31, fracturing her skull, and stealing her purse, which contained $800-$1,200.

Williams, and Candace Tai Townsel, 39, have been charged with murder, robbery, elder abuse and a special circumstance of committing a robbery during a murder that makes them eligible for the death penalty.

Kimesha Monae Williams, Leonard's sister, is accused of killing Afaf Anis Assad, 84, last Saturday in a Temecula, Calif., casino, according to The Press-Enterprise.

Assad was found unconscious on the bathroom floor and later died of her injuries at Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar.

Williams is Leonard's sister. "The suspects were quickly identified through surveillance footage and the information was immediately provided to law enforcement".

While Leonard wasn't involved in the crime at all, this certainly isn't a good look for him.

Investigators requested she be held as a outcome of they were concerned her "prosperous' family would publish her bail - and that she'd skip city or hurt someone".

Williams' aunt confirmed to The Press-Enterprise that Williams and Leonard are brother and sister, though she declined to say whether Leonard had reached out to his family about the situation.

Wayne Brown, the victim's son-in-law, said he took Assad and her husband to the casino the morning of the alleged murder and about half an hour later, she was found badly beaten and unconscious on the floor of the bathroom. "I am requesting NO BAIL to assure Williams' appearance in court and to keep innocent victims safe", the investigator wrote.

Leonard - a two-time MVP and NBA Defensive Participant of the Year - signed a three-one year, $103 million contract with the Clippers in July.

According to The Press-Enterprise, Williams has a history of violence and already has a police record that includes convictions for petty theft, grand theft, misappropriating lost property, grand theft auto and attempted robbery.
