Tesla Driver Seen Asleep in Moving Car

Tesla Driver Seen Asleep in Moving Car

As NBC DFW reports, one such Tesla owner was caught napping behind the wheel on Sunday while driving on the Massachusetts Turnpike. The clip shows the driver of the Tesla with his head bowed and motionless, seemingly asleep.

A MA man has filmed a video that shows a man asleep behind the wheel of a Tesla vehicle as it speeds along a highway. He didn't contact the police about the incident, even though he had the video to backup his story.

"Many of these videos appear to be risky pranks or hoaxes", the statement reads. As the video below reveals, his passenger was also asleep, meaning the vehicle (and everyone around it) was apparently completely reliant on Autopilot to drive safely.

A similar video filmed in August in Los Angeles, California, shows another resting driver travelling down the middle lane of a busy interstate highway.

"I thought I should record this, then I thought I shouldn't record this because it's also unsafe, but it was just so freaky I just had to get it on video", Randall said.

Mr Randall then pulled out his phone to record a 30 second video of the sleeping occupants while the auto sped along the highway, before posting the clip on social media with the message: "Some guy literally asleep at the wheel on the Mass Pike (great place for it)". Some of those who saw the video, however, are wondering if the video is some elaborate hoax as some EV owners have been known to post similar videos as a joke. Randall said the auto was a Tesla.

"For the record, this was no hoax, at least not on my part", he said.

Teslas have an autopilot function, but the company says drivers are expected to remain alert.
