Apple also introduced an iPhone 11 Pro and larger-screened iPhone 11 Pro Max that will have starting prices of $999 and $1,099 respectively when they are available on September 20.

The iPhone 11 starts at US$699, down from the iPhone XR's US$749 price past year. The customs duty on mobile phones priced above $500 is approximately Rs38,000.

With the Pro Max devices, the 64GB iPhone 11 Pro Max will cost SG$1800, 128GB of storage will be SG$2040, and the 256GB version tops out at SG$2350.

"The biggest news from the Apple launch was the price cut for iPhone 11", Chris Caso, an analyst at Raymond James & Associates, wrote in a note to investors. Not all new features will accompany the iOS 13 public release, rather some will be held back to come with iOS 13.1.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max also has three cameras, but with a bigger screen.

As the Verge pointed out in an analysis of Apple's services business, the cheapest iCloud plan is just shy of a dollar a month - under $12 a year.

Apple became one of the world's most valuable companies by designing innovative consumer hardware and charging a lot for the gadgets.
