Another Game of Thrones prequel is coming, starring this fan-favorite house

Now as per reports in Deadline, it's happy news for the insane fans of the insane show, a new GoT Prequel will showcase the "beginning of the end of House Targaryen" and 300 years before the Game of Thrones events took place. Martin's Game of Thrones series was an enormous hit, and he's got hundreds of new characters to play with from the pages of Fire & Blood. Unlike Game of Thrones, which was based on Ice & Fire, the prequel is based on his book Fire & Blood. According to Deadline, this is a new take on a world originally tackled by Bryan Cogman, who confirmed earlier this year that his prequel was not moving forward. In fact, Deadline says the series will prominently feature the Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of Dragons.

Although HBO has never ordered a prequel or sequel to any of their original series before, it's obvious why the network wants to keep riding the Game of Thrones success.

Martin himself wrote about all the possible GoT follow-ups in a blog post in May, where he hinted at a Targaryen prequel.

Writer Ryan Condal of "Colony" fame will pen the script in collaboration with Mr. Martin. "The one I am not supposed to call THE LONG NIGHT will be shooting later this year, and two other shows remain in the script stage, but are edging closer". Knowing that it wanted to keep Thrones viewers coming back, the network hired five screenwriters to pitch prequel ideas. "I can not say. But maybe some of you should pick up a copy of FIRE & BLOOD and come up with your own theories", Martin said.

The pilot for this series will be set 300 years before the events that concluded the eighth season of GoT.

This prequel is not to be confused with the other prequel HBO already ordered from showrunner Jane Goldman, which stars Naomi Watts and had its pilot shot this summer. I am binging it right now and studying.

Even some of the most loyal and dedicated fans found the conclusion rushed, with Daenerys' (spoilers) particularly fiery heel turn singled out for particular criticism.
