GoPro unveils new modular Hero 8 and 360-degree Max camera

The other big new features are the bolt-on mods that can be used to turn this action camera into a vlog friendly set up. The successor to the GoPro fusion.

This is what you need to know about the 2019 GoPro Hero 8.

The new MAX camera will also feature four digital lenses, including the new "ultra-wide Max SuperView", GoPro's widest field of view ever, the company said.

Last year's GoPro launch - the Hero 7 Black - delivered a vast improvement to in-body stabilisation, leading its chief executive to claim it was a "gimbal killer "- a reference to the fact it did not require add-on equipment to produce smooth footage.

GoPro has today unveiled a new dual-lens, GPS-enabled 360-degree camera called the GoPro Max, which is available to pre-order now for £479.99/$499. It's aimed at making an event that occurs over a longer period of time a sharable moment, but the changes mean you're able to adjust the speed multiplier.

After a veritable torrential downpour of leaks and rumors, GoPro has finally announced the GoPro Max for pre-order (as well as the GoPro Hero8 Black).

The greater sound capabilities (media mod - see below) and front facing screen also make the Max a great starting point for creative vloggers.

Numerous most exciting features of the GoPro Max are powered by its software, rather than the hardware. The Max equally provides 360 captures and is created to also produce great single lens, traditional wide-angle footage. When you buy direct from GoPro, you get a free 32GB MicroSDHC card.

Now, another leak has been released online ahead of the GoPro Hero 8's launch, which is in line with the previous features that the device will supposedly have.

A shotgun-mic directional audio performance and features two cold shoe mounts for additional accessories and sports multiple input options: USB Type-C, HDMI and 3.5-mm external mic input. The flip-up display mod has a 1.9-inch display and sits flush against the back of the camera. Its waterproof to 10 metres, wearable and mountable on gear.

With the Hero 7 Black already getting its price cut to $300, it opens up the $399 spot for the GoPro Hero 8, specifically the black variant.

However, in doing this, the firm will compete against not just against DJI's Osmo Action camera - which features a selfie screen on its front - but also a variety of new "mirrorless" cameras with interchangeable lenses, which are targeting the same market.
